I can count my close friends on one hand, but the friends I have are pure gold. Along with my husband and my family, they’ve been unfailingly supportive of my dream to be a published author. Sometimes I wonder why they put up with me, when I prattle on endlessly about the plots and characters I’m working on, whine when my writing isn’t going well, and moan about sales slumps and negative reviews. Once in a while I remember to ask how they are doing and what they are up to.
Two of my friends in particular are in my thoughts at the moment. One of them I see almost every day, but the other lives in Europe and we communicate through email. Both women have been going through rough patches lately in their own lives, yet they never complain when I hand over my latest manuscript, expecting them to drop everything and read it ASAP. Knowing they are waiting for the next chapter keeps me writing even when I’ve run out of steam. If it weren’t for their feedback and enthusiasm, I might not have kept going through all the setbacks and moments of doubt. They ask for nothing in return.
Guys, I appreciate your steadfast support, and even your criticism, more than I can say. You’re both awesome.
